FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What are my treatment options if I am diagnosed with ADHD?

Following an ADHD diagnosis, a range of support options are available. These typically include behavioural and psychological therapies (such as CBT), ACT, or DBT; and, where appropriate, a referral for psychiatric evaluation and medication management. MindPath offers direct pathways to both therapy and coaching as part of your aftercare.

Therapy (such as CBT) focuses on understanding and addressing the emotional, psychological, and behavioural patterns associated with ADHD, including anxiety, low self-esteem, or past difficulties. Coaching is a practical, forward-focused approach that helps you develop strategies for time management, organisation, and goal-setting. Both can be beneficial and are often complementary.

It requires a nuanced approach. A strategy that works for autism alone (e.g., rigid routines) may fail because of the ADHD need for novelty. A strategy for ADHD alone (e.g., breaking tasks down) may fail if the autistic need for the ‘big picture’ isn’t met first. Effective support must be flexible and address both neurotypes simultaneously.

Yes. Research consistently shows that psychological therapies; particularly CBT adapted for ADHD are effective in reducing symptoms and improving quality of life. Therapy helps individuals develop practical skills while also addressing the emotional challenges that often accompany ADHD.

For some individuals, therapy and coaching alone are highly effective, particularly for managing daily functioning and emotional wellbeing. For others, a combination of therapy and medication may be recommended. This will depend on the nature and severity of your difficulties, and our clinicians will discuss the most appropriate pathway with you.

Are MindPath's Therapists and Coaches Qualified?

Yes. All of our therapists and coaches are fully qualified professionals registered with their relevant professional bodies in Ireland. They have specific expertise in working with neurodivergent adults, including those with ADHD, ASD, and AuDHD.

Sessions can be booked directly through your MindPath account. Once you have received your diagnostic report, our team will guide you through the available options and help you select the most appropriate type of support.

Standard therapy and coaching sessions last 50 minutes. Your therapist or coach will discuss the recommended session frequency during your initial appointment.

The duration varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some clients benefit from a structured short-term programme (typically 8–12 sessions), while others prefer ongoing support. This will be discussed and agreed between you and your therapist from the outset.

MindPath is a fully online service. All therapy and coaching sessions take place via secure video call, allowing you to engage from wherever you are most comfortable.
